- Summary
- In the 1850s, Emma Wagner Giesy, the daughter of German immigrants, is sent to the Oregon frontier to help start a new town. Although the most dangerous part of her journey is behind her, Emma is conflicted with her desperate desire to lead a normal life and her obligation to marry. As she gains the trust of her new community, Emma must find compromise between her God-given freedoms and her future well-being
